Plastics Regrind - Used equipment

Known Issues:

  • 6 Regrind cells

  • Not all cells are used at the same time

  • Some cells are used much more than others, due to size

  • Need to reduce electrical consumption

  • Need to eliminate Heat loss in the winter months

  • January indoor temps 70 degrees F and Outdoor air temps as low as -50 degrees F

  • Budget would not allow for New Equipment

Provided Solutions:

  • Located a used collector and fan that met air volume and static pressure system requirements. Donaldson Torit Model DFT 3-24.

  • Located aftermarket silencer (80 dBA) to reduce noise levels when returning air back into building.

  • Provided heated solenoid enclosure to keep valves from freezing in the winter months.

  • Provided Delta P Plus filter cleaning control (digital photohelic gauge) to manage filter cleaning and provide alarm (strobe) when filters are no longer viable.

  • Built custom inlet plenum to allow for multiple duct connections to dust collector.

  • Connected each regrind cell to collector independently to allow for independent use.

  • Built custom control cabinet with VFD and air flow control system to provide air only to cells that are in use.

  • Used compressed air driven automatic blast gates to open/close duct lines independently.

  • Used clamp together duct work to allow for mobility.

  • Returnede cleaned air into the building to limit winter heat loss and eliminate the need for make up air.
